Description

Cinderella Early Fairy Godmother Model Sheet Original Art (Walt Disney, 1950). Disney's version of the classic Brothers Grimm story Cinderella was two years in production. It would go on to become the studio's greatest critical and commercial success to date, finally turning around Disney's lean years, where films like Pinocchio and Bambi were considered box office flops. Here's an amazing and extremely rare production item dated 6/2/1948, with the original model sheet artwork for an early version of the Fairy Godmother who grants Cinderella her wish to travel to the ball. The art is in ink and watercolor or gouache on trimmed pieces of paper that are mounted to illustration board measuring 15.5" x 12.5". There are ten individual images, including one of the horse-drawn "pumpkin" coach, and one that includes both the Fairy Godmother and Cinderella. Six images of the Fairy Godmother are full-figure, the other three head shots. Smallest image measures approximately 1.125" x 2.25", and the largest (of the coach) is 8.5" x 4". A clear plastic overlay protects the art. Condition is Good, with some glue staining, and a rip through the image of the Fairy Godmother and Cinderella.
