Description

Alice in Wonderland Cheshire Cat Animation Drawing and Studio-Printed Model Sheet (Walt Disney, 1951). "However, if I were looking for a white rabbit, I'd ask the Mad Hatter." The elusive Cheshire Cat from Disney's 1951 film Alice in Wonderland offers some help in the astonishingly rare animation drawing showcased in this lot, displaying a wonderful and large image of the beloved character, accompanied by a fantastic studio-printed model sheet. Known for his iconic smile and tendency to disappear, this mysterious feline was famously voiced by the great Sterling Holloway and designed by Ward Kimball and Joe Grant. This exceptional animation drawing, done in graphite on a 16-field three-peghole animation sheet, was created for the image we see at the 40:44 timestamp of the film, with the grinning character measuring a noteworthy figure size of 11.25" x 8", numbered 56 in the bottom right corner. Finding animation drawings of this well-known cat is as difficult as getting a hold of him in Wonderland, so don't miss this rare opportunity! The 14" x 11" model sheet shows the Cheshire Cat in different poses, printed on photographic paper to be used during the film's production. The animation drawing presents normal age-related toning and faint tears on the top and bottom edges. Overall, this lot shows minor handling and edge wear from production. In Very Good condition.
