Description

Joe Kubert All-New Comics #9 Story Page 8 Original Art (Harvey Comics, 1944). Kubert hit the ground running as a teenaged newcomer to the comic-book business -- learning the trade so thoroughly well and so rapidly that he had developed a recognizable style by age 18. This page captures the comics' greatest war-story artist in the very genre that he would come to define. Here, a hard-luck soldier (who suggests a prototype for Kubert's famous Sgt. Rock) busts a criminal enterprise, only to be busted his ownself for dereliction of official duty. From a story with the intriguing title of "The Man Who Milked Spiders for Gold." Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 13" x 18". Light to moderate toning, more pronounced at the margins, which contain two blue-pencilled color-guide notations. Excellent condition.
