Description

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs "The Silly Song" Snow White Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1937). "Isn't this a silly song for anyone to sing?" This runaway Princess finally feels an unbridled moment of freedom and joy in this absolutely delightful original animation drawing from "The Silly Song" sequence of Disney's debut animated feature film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Used in the production of the memorable musical number, Snow prances about to the iconic tune composed by Frank Churchill with lyrics by Larry Morey with her movements replicating those of her live-action model the skilled dancer Marge Champion. She can be spotted near the 54:27 timestamp of the film as the Dwarfs preform for their esteemed yet unexpectedly stowaway guest. Full-figured and mid-twirl, Snow White has been rendered in graphite and colored pencils to a character size of 4" x 7" including her shadow with an animator's note about her foot placement nicely centered on a sheet of 16 field 5-peghole animation paper. The peghole edge bears an official studio stamp noting the frame as belonging to Prod. 2001 Seq. 8A Scene 26A (corrected from 33A) with the frame number of 7 in the opposite lower corner; the top right corner is also marked 1082 and the opposite upper corner on the reverse side of the drawing bears a rare studio stamp reading 400 similar to those seen on animation drawings from early Disney theatrical shorts. With typical handling and edge wear including faint age-related toning, center peghole reinforcement, and faint surface wear, overall this light-hearted frolic is in Very Good condition.
