Description

George Herriman archy and mehitabel Illustration Original Art (Doubleday, 1927). "especially planned for his personal shelter." For the Archy poem titled "warty bliggens the toad", George Herriman provided this rather charming illustration. Herriman was a perfect choice to illustrate Don Marquis' collection of newspaper articles (supposedly) written by Archy the Cockroach, with a reincarnated soul of a poet. This work was rendered in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 5" x 5". Signed in the image area on the toned board. In Very Good condition.
