Ashita no Joe 2 Joe Production Cel with Production Background (Tokyo Movie Shinsha, c. 1980-81). Joe Yabuki's powerful punching force is featured front and center of this lot, with a hand-painted production cel of the momentous boxing anime series Ashita no Joe 2. Telling the inspiring journey of Joe from drifter to professional fighter, this series is based on the manga by the renowned duo of Asao Takamori and Tetsuya Chiba. Displaying a striking image of Joe knocking the sunglasses off a character, this 12-field cel shows the amazing image measuring 9.5" x 7.75". The cel is taped to a gouache-rendered production background of a city at night with archival artist tape. The cel shows fading on the linework and mild paint wear. The production background has the bottom section trimmed off and taped, presenting light scuffing, pinholes on the top edge and bottom corners, and crumpling on the top corners and the right edge. Overall, the lot has some handling and edge wear from production. In Good condition.
