Description
Deputy Droopy Slim and Droopy Production Cel (MGM, 1955). Good luck trying to steal a safe when Deputy Droopy is watching it! Featured in this lot is a hilarious hand-inked and hand-painted cel used in the production of the 1955 short directed by Michael Lah and the famous Tex Avery, Deputy Droopy. One of the last shorts directed by Tex Avery on MGM before his departure to Walter Lantz Productions, this cartoon had Droopy in charge of guarding a safe, while two outlaws try their best to steal it. An uproarious sample of Avery's brand of humor, this production cel shows almost-full-figure images, with the bandit Slim glued to the floor holding a stick of dynamite on his tongue measuring a stupendous figure size of 5.75" x 8", while the Deputy Droopy, characteristically calm despite being tied up, is presented measuring 2" x 3.25". These amazing images of the characters can be seen at the 4:16 mark of the short for Droopy and at the 1:19 timestamp for Slim. The cel is displayed on a printed background offered on a 20" x 16" mat with a 14.5" x 9" opening. The mat is sold as-is. Presenting minor handling and edge wear from production, the lot is in Very Good condition.Auction Info
