Dragon Tiger Gate Original Cover Art (Jade Dynasty Group, c. 2000-10s). Offered in this lot is a remarkably detailed piece of original cover art created for the groundbreaking Hong Kong manhua Dragon Tiger Gate. Known in the West as Oriental Heroes, this long-running series was created by Tony Wong Yuk-long in 1970 and was notably the first Chinese comic to feature action and fighting, establishing a new genre within the medium. This cover illustration features Xicheng Yong the Fire Cloud Evil God (AKA Shibumi) in a dramatic split image with an opposing Youxia (traveling warrior) character who's name is undetermined. The two characters span the page with an astonishing combined image size of 11.5" x 16". Hand-drawn in ink with mixed media, the illustration is accomplished over a blueline print on bond paper with an overall size of 11.75" x 16.5" and includes text along the lower edge indicating cover usage. With typical handling and edge wear including some light smudging, surface wrinkles, and a bit remaining tape, overall this imposing original cover illustration is in Very Good condition.Auction Info
