Description

Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust D Production Cel (Madhouse, 2000). "Your credibility is less than impeccable," quips the titular D, who doesn't trust Meier Link's claim that Charlotte is with him by choice. One of the rare anime productions intentionally made for Western theatrical release, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust was created in response to immense fan demand for a follow-up to cult classic 1985 film Vampire Hunter D. The film was based on Hideyuki Kikuchi and Yoshitaka Amano's book Demon Deathchase, and it brought brooding dhampir D to the big screen for the first time since the release of the original film 15 years earlier. This is a stunning original hand-painted, hand-inked production cel from the film, depicting D during his battle with dangerous vampire Meier Link at about the 18:21 mark of the film. This gorgeous cel features a large image of D measuring about 11" x 8" on the 13.75" x 9.25" cel. The cel is numbered in its upper right corner with B8. The detail on this piece is astounding, with sharp shadows and intricate hand-inking brilliantly capturing the cinematic lighting in this scene. The cel is displayed atop a color print background for presentation. The piece is in Very Good to Fine condition, with minor handling and edge wear.
