Description

Superman (The Mad Scientist) Lois Lane and Airplane Layout Drawings (Max Fleischer, 1941). Aviatrix/reporter Lois Lane climbs into her plane and takes off to follow the source of the "death ray," in this incredible pair of original layout drawings from the very first Superman cartoon. This historic short premiered only a few short years after the comic book debut of the Man of Steel (Action Comics #1, cover dated June 1938); it was first shown in theaters on 9/26/1941. In these two drawings, Lois is seen pulling her flying helmet on (as seen at the 3:23 mark) on the first, while the plane takes off on drawing #2 (this sequence of three images in one drawing begin at the 3:28 mark, and continue for about a second). As we've seen in the past, any production material from the Fleischer Superman cartoons is in high demand, and this set of two will surely cause some excitement. These are large drawings, on 16 field paper with image areas of approximately 15.5" x 12". They are matted and framed together; the Plexiglas-front frame measures 41.75" x 23.5" x 1.5". The frame is sold as-is. Art condition is Good, with handling wear, tack holes, and mild paper toning.
