Description

Smurfs 8-Character Presentation/Display Cels Group of 2 (Hanna-Barbera, c. 1980s). Here are two extraordinary pieces of original cel art used for display at a party held in Bill Hanna's office to celebrate the Smurfs Emmy nomination. Smurfs was a cartoon series that aired on NBC from 1981 until 1990. It was based on the Belgian comic series The Smurfs by Peyo which features the group of blue people called Smurfs. It originally aired for one hour of programming time in its first season, then it was expanded to 90 minutes for the following seasons until 1988, when it returned to its original one-hour show length. The two pieces in this lot feature Smurfs, Smurfette, Grouchy, Greedy and Hefty in the first piece and Papa, Lazy, Handy and Harmony in the second. The characters stand full-figure at 5.5" and 6.5", hand-painted on 12 field acetate and placed over a repeated rainbow H-B print. The overall size of both pieces is 29" x 10.25". Great images of these Emmy winning characters. Condition is Fine.
