Ultraseven Volume 2 Original Manga Pages by Jiro Kuwata with Published Copy Group of 4 (Kodansha/Sun Comics, c. 1967-68/1978). From celebrated artist Jiro Kwata (1935 - 2020), comes this exceptional collection of four original manga pages from the second volume of the third installment in the Ultraman franchise, Ultraseven. Originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine, this comic follows the plotline of the live-action sci-fi television series by the same name and was later published in six tankobon volumes. Tankobon are single-title, multi-chapter books of popular manga which were first published in magazines alongside other titles. To combat extraterrestrial threats on Earth, the Terrestrial Defense Force establishes the Ultra Garrison, a team of six elite members who utilize high-tech vehicles and weaponry. Joining their fight is the mysterious Dan Moroboshi who is secretly an alien from the Land of Light in Nebula M-78 and transforms into his true alien form, Ultraseven, in times of crisis. These outstanding pages display some of the amazing artwork skillfully created by Jiro Kwata. Each page showcases the creator's impressive talent with fantastic art in every panel, all created in ink on approximately 10" x 13.5" pages, with the artwork measuring just over 7" x 10.5". The pages are enumerated with multiple sequences, with page numbers 180-183 matching the included published edition. Original art for manga pages is incredibly hard to come by, particularly for historical titles like Ultraman's Ultraseven series. The pages have the text as paste-ins, with some of them presenting whiteout corrections. Page 180 present fold creases on the side, and notes in graphite and blue pencil on the margins of all pages. The manga volume shows toning to the book block, and minor fading to the color dustjacket. The illustrations show some faint age-related toning, light stains, and minor handling and edge wear.
