Description

Song of the South Br'er Bear, Br'er Rabbit, and Br'er Fox SOLD-OUT Limited Edition Cel #59/350 (Walt Disney, 1946/1994). Featured in this lot is an amazing long sold-out limited edition cel of Br'er Bear, Br'er Rabbit, and Br'er Fox from Song of the South. The cel was created to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of Song of the South and was created by Disney's renowned Ink and Paint Department from archived animation drawings from the final animated segment of the film, "The Laughing Place". The characters are all full figure, hand-painted, and are a nostalgic look at Br'er Rabbit as he tricks his enemies to the "Laughing Place", which is actually a beehive in the bushes that will distract them long enough to secure his freedom. The cel has sold out since its release in 1994 and is numbered 59 out of only 350 ever created. The recognizable characters are centered on the cel and measure about 9.5'' x 6.75'', displayed on a print background in a 14.5'' x 10.5'' mat and 22'' x 18'' Plexiglas-fronted frame. The lot includes a Walt Disney Company seal in the lower right and is numbered in the lower left. Very Good to Fine condition with minimal wear. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition.
