Garth Williams Baby's First Book Preliminary Cover Design Painted Drawings Group of 3 (Simon & Schuster, 1955). Here are three rare Little Golden Book cover concepts for Baby's First Book by legendary children's book author and illustrator Garth Williams (1912 - 1996). As an artist, Garth is best remembered for his charming work on such classics as Stuart Little, Charlotte's Web (both written by E.B. White) and the Little House books by Laura Ingals Wilder. The art is in graphite and gouache/watercolor on paper, with approximate image sizes of 6.75" x 8". While these were not the final chosen image for the published book, all three present plenty of the charm Mr. William's work is known for, and all three have been signed in the lower margins. The art is in overall Very Good condition with minor handling wear.Auction Info
