Description
Ghost in the Shell Motoko Kusanagi Production Cel with Master Background and Animation Drawing (Production I.G, 1995). "Just when I thought I've seen everything in this lifetime, I sit here and watch a cyborg go diving in her spare time. I had no idea you went in for this kind of stuff," Batou comments about Motoko's enjoyment of diving by herself after accompanying the major on one of her trips. "Isn't there anything you're afraid of?" he continues, "What if the floaters don't work or something else fails? Featured in this lot is an outstanding hand-painted production cel showcased on a Master background from the famous diving scene of the anime film Ghost in the Shell. Appearing at about the 28:17 mark of the movie, we get this peaceful image of the major floating to the surface as the bubbles surround her. Motoko is showcased wearing diving gear, measuring an amazing figure size of 8" x 5.75" on the two-layer 14.25" x 9" production cel. The cel is presented on a Master background, rendering the depths of the sea in gouache on background board, numbered C.831 in the top right corner. It measures about 14" x 9.5". Also included is the matching animation drawing of Motoko Kusanagi done in graphite with colored pencil details and shading, numbered A17 in the top right corner. The production cel has its layers adhered together, presenting faint surface scratches that don't affect the art, and the linework shows light fading. The Master background shows pinholes in the four corners and minor surface scuffing. Some traces of paint from the production cel can be seen on the animation drawing, also presenting very light surface scuffing. Overall, the lot displays minor handling wear from production, and it's in Very Good condition.More information about Production I.G..
