Description
Sailor Moon S "Thorny Weather" Mamoru Chiba and Usagi Tsukino Production Cel Setup with Key Master Background and Animation Drawing Group of 3 (Toei Animation, 1994). "The other day, Haruka told me not to let Chibi-Usa near her, but Hotaru is not a bad girl. I just know it!" From the Sailor Moon S episode "Thorny Weather," we have in this lot a lovely hand-painted production cel of the handsome Mamoru and the fashionable Usagi, showcased on a whimsical and very rare Key Master background. This image appears at about the 3:16 mark, as Mamoru and Usagi deliberate about Hotaru Tomoe spending time with Chibi-Usa. The two-layer cel has Mamoru standing at 3.25" x 6.5" and Usagi 4" x 6", featuring exemplary images of the charming couple. Rendered in gouache, the beautiful Key Master background depicting the outside of a toy store features the dreamlike color palette characteristic of the series with the discrete gradient that begins from the bottom with pink tones. Included with this lot are the three matching animations showing Usagi on drawing B-1, Mamoru's face on A-1 with his body on a separate drawing, all created in graphite with colored pencil drawings and animator notes in pink ink on Usagi and Mamoru's head drawing. The lot is accompanied by an exposure sheet from the show's production. The cel has its layers adhered together. It is taped to the background by the top corners and has stuck to it. The linework has some faded ink, and overall, the lot shows very light handling and edge wear from production. In Very Good condition.More information about Sailor Moon.
