Description

Grave of the Fireflies Setsuko Production Cel (Studio Ghibli, 1988). After their home in Kobe is destroyed by American bombers in the beautiful and heartwrenching Isao Takahata-directed film Grave of the Fireflies, Seita and his little sister Setsuko move in with their aunt. As the rations begin to shrink and their aunt complains about them not pulling their weight around the house, the two decide to move out on their own with what little food and money they have left. This beautiful full figure 14'' x 9'' 3-peghole production cel of Setsuko can be found at about 50:37 as she waits for Seita to pull water from a nearby well, offering her own container to bring back with them. Setsuko is hand-painted and measures about 2.25'' x 3.5'', marked B3 in the upper right corner. Though in what will soon be a dire situation, she is still happy and smiling, expectantly watching her brother. The cel is displayed on a 16.5'' x 12'' printed background with archival artist tape for presentation purposes and is perfect for a Key Master setup if you already have a background from the film. The lot is in Very Good condition with light edge and handling wear and minor chips in paint.
