Description

Peter Ellenshaw "11th Hole at Mauna Kea, Hawaii" Original Acrylic Painting on Canvas (1994). Here is a gorgeous painting of the 11th hole at Mauna Kea's award-winning golf course by award-winning artist, Peter Ellenshaw (1913 - 2007). Mauna Kea was created in 1964 by famed golf course designer Robert Trent Jones Sr (1906 - 2000). Ellenshaw found its lush fairways tumbling across seaside cliffs with unfolding ocean views too much to resist so, he painted it! Peter began painting golf courses in the 1980s. He was intrigued by the beautiful environs and the traditions associated with the game. He painted courses in the U.S., England, Scotland and Ireland. Ellenshaw painted plein air but also took Ektachrome photographs to use as reference. This stunning piece was rendered on 48" x 30" stretched canvas and framed to 53" x 35". The artwork is hand-signed and dated in paint by the artist. Fine condition. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition.
