Æon Flux Production Cels Signed by Peter Chung (MTV Animation, 1996). The skilled spy Æon Flux is spotted by the Bregnan forces in the spectacular hand-painted production cel featured in this lot. Many people watching the iconic MTV animated show Æon Flux would have thought that the action and setting would be perfect for a videogame, and in 1996 that idea almost came to a resolution thanks to Cryo Interactive, until the game got canceled and reworked into Pax Corpus. To promote the release of the game, Peter Chung, the series' creator, produced an outstanding commercial in conjunction with anime studio Madhouse, starring key animation by Takeshi Koike, who is known for his 2009 anime film Redline. The vibrant four-layer production cel created for the commercial, numbered A1 in the top right corner, has Æon measuring 5.25" tall, holding her gun as the spotlights aim in her direction, projecting a shadow reminiscent of the style of German expressionist films. The layers are adhered together by the top edge and the top layer showcases Peter Chung's signature near the bottom right corner. With minor handling wear form production and light fading on the linework, the overall condition is Very Good.
