Description

Louis Ravielli U.S. Marines In Action! #1 Cover Preliminary #2 Original Art and Negative Stat (Avon, 1952). One of two cover designs provided by Louis Ravielli for this issue. A personal note on the side is address to Sol (Cohen?), likely the editor. It mentions the idea of combining elements from this version and the previous layout design (also offered in this same weekly sale) for the final image. Ultimately, it appears that none of the elements from this cover were used on the final piece. This piece was created in ink and watercolor on the reverse side of Ravielli's own personal 8.5" x 11" stationery. It has been folded, with a fold-split that was repaired with tape on the other side. Minor wrinkles and in Very Good condition. Comes with a copy of a negative image stat of the final published cover.
