Description

Walt Kelly PogoDaily Comic Strip Original Art dated 5-24-63 (Hall Syndicate, 1963). Churchy LaFemme, the philosophical turtle, engages two angleworms in an Existential discussion of the fishin'-bait profession. Kelly's wordplay is among the best in the business -- right up there with Elzie Segar's Popeye and George Herriman's Krazy Kat -- and Kelly's art is an ideal cross between fantasy and persuasive realism. A brilliant example of a unique and irreplaceable feature. Ink over blue pencil on Bristol board. Dimensions, 18.5" x 5". Excellent condition.
