Description

The Comics Magazine #1 (Comics Magazine, 1936) CGC PR 0.5 Slightly brittle pages. This unusually rare comic, redubbed Funny Pages with its sixth issue, features the first appearance of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster's Dr. Mystic, who would later re-emerge at DC Comics as Dr. Occult. Art by Sheldon Mayer and even Walt Kelly also appears inside, packed behind a comical baseball-themed cover (on paper stock) by Vince Sullivan. Considered "scarce" by Gerber. This is a true piece of early comics history! Gerber "7" or "scarce." CGC notes, "Page 2 & 3 missing, affects story. Spine of cover completely split & re-attached with tape, Cover & page 1 detached. INCOMPLETE." Overstreet 2019 GD 2.0 value = $3,800. CGC census 8/19: 1 in 0.5, 8 higher.
