Rick Griffin Knight in Armor (c. 1975) Griffin's rank among the Underground Comix founders is one of consummate kozmic artistry, often for its own sake and without narrative baggage. His pictures can tell stories without words. This pointy-headed knight errant appears poised to nail a dragon. The artist's Disney-style influences are patent, and so is Griffin's resolve to take that influence in a different direction. Ink over graphite on two-ply bond. Image area, 5" x 8". Moderate toning.
