Description
Virgil Ross - Bugs Bunny and Marvin the Martian Illustration (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). "Now there's a brainy little guy! Probably get ahead on th' moon!" Bugs Bunny encounters interplanetary invader Marvin the Martian in this original drawing by Virgil Ross. It was inspired by Marvin's first appearance in the 1948 Chuck Jones-directed short, Haredevil Hare. Virgil Ross (1907 - 1996) spent many years with Warner Brothers during his long career as an animator, working closely with legendary directors Chuck Jones, Tex Avery, Bob Clampett, Friz Freleng, and others, with several of his shorts earning Academy Awards. He also worked at Filmation, Hanna-Barbera, DePatie-Freleng (on Pink Panther cartoons), and others. Several of the cartoons he worked on were nominated for Academy Awards, and Mr. Ross himself was given the prestigious Winsor McCay Award in 1988. The signed drawing is matted with an opening of 12" x 9", and is framed with glass for an overall size of 15" x 12". Frame is sold as-is. Art condition is Fine.More information about Virgil Ross.
