Description

Mother Goose Goes Hollywood Laurel and Hardy Animation Drawings Group of 2 (Walt Disney, 1938). This Wilfred Jackson-directed short, Mother Goose Goes Hollywood, features caricatures of the comedy duo, Laurel and Hardy as Simple Simon and the Pieman. The Pieman, Oliver Hardy, is busy tending a pile of his pies on a wagon. Laurel refuses an offered pie, and picks one from the middle of the pile, which scares Hardy, fearing the pile will collapse. Nothing happens, however and a reassured Hardy tries to do the same. When the pile collapses and one of the pies lands on his head, he looks angrily at Laurel, who swallows his pie in one piece and then snickers at Hardy. In this lot are two fantastic production drawings of Simple Simon picking out a pie. The images were rendered in graphite with red pencil on 12 field, 5-peghole animation paper. The pages are number as 136 and 27 in the bottom right corner. Age-related toning and edge wear. Good condition.
