Description

Mickey's Garden Animation Drawings Group of 2 (Walt Disney, 1935). In this Wilfred Jackson-directed 1935 animated short, Mickey tries to rid his garden from an invasion of insects by using a pesticide. Naturally, he gets accidentally dosed by his own bug spray, after which he begins having wild hallucinations. During this psychedelic event, Mickey has an encounter with a giant stag beetle, which is depicted in these original production drawings. You can see these images starting around the 5:18 mark. Disney Legend Inductee and one of "Walt's Nine Old Men" Ollie Johnston did the layouts for this short while Walt Disney provided the voice for Mickey. The Mickey Mouse drawing is noted as number 31, the beetle drawing is noted as number 72. The drawings were rendered in graphite with color pencil on 12 field, 2-peghole animation paper. This is a rare set of working production art and thus will show normal usage; there is some paper toning, handling, and edge wear, with the pegholes reinforced by the studio. Condition is Very Good.
