Description

Superman Bradman Birthday Custom #nn (DC, 1988) Condition: FN-. When it comes to this low-print-run comic it's difficult to separate rumor from fact, but one thing we know for sure is that DC completist Ian Levine once told us it was one of the scarcest DC promotional comics. According to lore, this comic was commissioned by a well-to-do father as a party favor for his son's bar mitzvah (i.e. 13th birthday), with a print run of less than 100 or a few hundred depending on whom you believe. Not only did these kids get to be drawn into an original Superman story, all-time great Curt Swan did the art! We've heard that none other than MAD satire ace Angelo Torres contributed as well, and the likenesses of the kids certainly look like Torres' work. The only copy (a 9.6) that we are aware of previously sold for $2,600 and $1,900. Overstreet does list the comic in its promotional section but does not list a value.
