Description
Harvey Eisenberg Tom and Jerry Comic Book Page Preliminary Original Art Group of 6 (Gold Key, c. 1960s). Although rarely discussed among comic book aficionados, Harvey Eisenberg's art on old Tom and Jerry comic books was superb, with some even considering his work to be on par with what Carl Barks did for the Disney Ducks. Just as Barks had worked in animation before moving to comic books, Eisenberg got his start at MGM, assisting Joe Barbera and Bill Hanna in producing Tom and Jerry cartoons. This is a collection of extremely rare preliminary pages featuring the famous cat and mouse team, pulled directly from Mr. Eisenberg's files. Five of the pages come from Tom and Jerry #220 (1964), for the story "Dude Ranch Daze." This is the complete story, tightly drawn in pencil on onionskin paper; the word balloons have been left blank. Image size averages 16" x 23". One additional page is included, drawn in a smaller scale of 11.5" x 17.5"; it's the final page of a T&J story involving a Frankenstein-like character.
