This is the first game in the popular Double Dragon beat 'em up series, and was initially developed by Technos Japan and released to arcades in 1987. Subsequent ports were made to the NES first and Sega Masters System second. The SMS port is considered, by many, to be more true to the arcade experience than the NES version due to its more vibrant colors and the system's ability to render three on-screen enemies at the same time. Among its numerous sequels, Double Dragon also inspired the movie with Robert Patrick of the same name.
