Description
Maurice Whitman Jungle Comics #152 Story Page 9 Original Art (Fiction House, 1952). Whitman's masterful and painterly composition distinguishes this last page of a 9-page story starring Kaanga, a counterpart to Tarzan. The image of a rogue elephant, charging a hunter, is as violent a moment as the comics have ever seen. Emotive faces, powerful action scenes, and one 3D-like illusion featuring the elephant as it crashes out of one panel and into another. Whitman is among the most expressive artists ever to grace a Fiction House book. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 12.25" x 18". Moderate age-toning, complicated by light horizontal wrinkling as a result of moisture seepage. Good condition.Auction Info
