Virgil Ross - Daffy Duck and Porky Pig Drawing (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). "Honest and truly, I am Robin Hood!" insists Daffy to "Friar Tuck" Porky, who replies, "Sure you are!" This drawing, inspired by the Chuck Jones-directed theatrical short, Robin Hood Daffy (1958), was created by Virgil Ross, a long-time animator for Warner Brothers, Hanna-Barbera, Filmation, and a few other studios, with a career that stretched back to the 1930s. He worked on everything from Oswald the Rabbit to Scooby-Doo, as well as fan-favorites like Star Trek: The Animated Series and The New Adventures of Batman. Several of the cartoons he worked on were nominated for Academy Awards, and Mr. Ross himself was given the prestigious Winsor McCay Award in 1988. Original drawings like this were offered at personal appearances by Mr. Ross as he promoted his line of Limited Edition cels at Warner Brothers stores and licensed galleries. This signed drawing is matted with an opening of 11.5" x 8.5", and framed with glass for an overall size of 16" x 13". Frame is sold as-is.
