Description

Secrets Behind The Comics #1 (Famous Enterprises Inc., 1947) Condition: VG. Stan Lee was only in his mid-twenties when he wrote this book, yet as it proclaims, "He has been in complete charge of more comic magazines than any other living editor." It was advertised in Timely comics upon publication; it's not a comic, though it is hand-lettered in true comic style and Stan's text is illustrated primarily by Ken Bald. Features include profiles on Syd Shores (with four pages of his Blonde Phantom reproduced), Mike Sekowsky, Basil Wolverton, Al Jaffee, and Martin Goodman. There is also a detailed description of how Captain America was created, with several images. One of the first books of its kind ever published. This copy displays tanning to the cover and cream to off-white pages. Overstreet 2024 VG 4.0 value = $296.
