Description

Stan Drake, Henry Boltinoff, and Zack Mosley The Heart of Juliet Jones and Other Comic Strips Original Art (1972-83). Tough to imagine three more un-alike comic strips -- Drake's elegant soap-opera classic, Juliet Jones (8-17-83), Mosley's weird-adventure comedy Smilin' Jack (Sunday, 8-27-72), and Boltinoff's rustic feature Nubbin (1-23-74, inscribed). A fascinating mixture, with a special point of interest: Boltinoff spent the 1940s through the '60s doing funny filler-pages for DC Comics, where his brother, Murray Boltinoff, was an editor. The example, here, of Nubbin recaptures that whimsical wit in newspaper-strip format. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image areas, 15" x 4.75" to 20" x 9". Peeled shading film on the Boltinoff. Conditions range from Good (a wrinkled Smilin' Jack) to Very Good.
