Description

Will Crawford Light Brigade Original Art (c. 1910s). A large and elaborate cartoon montage, ridiculing militaristic zeal. Crawford, a versatile figure in political satire, early pulp magazines, and children's books, likely developed this high-angle wonder for Puck (an ancestor of MAD) or a similarly concerned humor publication. The vivid caricatures and delicate pen lines contain sufficient detail to keep the viewer absorbed. Ink over graphite on heavyweight Bristol board. Image area, 12" x 17". Pronounced age toning and marginal moisture staining. One gouged edge at lower left. Otherwise in Very Good condition. From the Jack Kent Collection.
