Description

Disney Parks - Musical Automatics Research Binder with Original Art (Walt Disney, c. 1970). A treasure from the past, Musical Automatics provide marvelous entertainment to amazing audiences by playing music without a human musician to play them. These wondrous machines were on display in many Disney park locations like the Mark Twain's Middle Deck, the Market House, the upstairs of the Golden Horseshoe in Disneyland, and the buffet area of the Pioneer Hall in Disney World. The binder presented in this lot features photos and original drawings of some of the fantastic models of Musical Automatics seen in the parks like the Coinola Orchestrion Style C-2, the Regina "Sublima Piano," and the Coinola Style "O" Orchestrion. The binder also showcases many cutouts from newspaper advertisements specifying details about the musical machines and two early case designs for the Wurlitzer Mandolin Quartette. There are multiple hand-colored and hand-painted concept art pieces in this binder, showcasing ideas for the designs of automated musical instruments throughout the parks. Two of these art pieces are even hand-painted on wooden veneers! The photos, cutouts, and drawings show light toning, with some photos displaying scuffing and wear. The overall condition is Good to Very Good.
From the Rummell Collection.
