Description

Birdman Production Bumper Cel and Key Master Background (Hanna-Barbera, 1967). Birdman is a superhero created by Hanna-Barbera as part of the Birdman and the Galaxy Trio cartoon series. The Galaxy Trio is a group of interplanetary law enforcers who battle criminals throughout the cosmos. In addition to the ability to shoot solar rays from his fists and project "solar shields" to defend himself against attacks, Birdman also possesses the power of flight, thanks to the giant wings which sprout from his back. Offered in this lot is an extraordinary production cel of Birdman used in a bumper. In broadcasting, a commercial bumper, or break-bumper, often shortened to bump, is a brief announcement, usually two to fifteen seconds in length with a voice over, placed between a pause in the program and its commercial break, and vice versa. One of the most common bumpers is "will return after these messages." The artwork is a hand-painted 12 field production cel paired with the original hand-painted background. The image can be seen on page 149 of Ted Sennett's book, "The Art of Hanna-Barbera." This is a great image of Birdman measuring 6" tall. Fine condition.
