Description

Superman Mad Scientist's Electrothanasia-Ray Layout Drawing (Max Fleischer, 1941). "This looks like a job for Superman!" says Clark Kent when he hears about a mysterious "death ray" that destroys a bridge loaded with automobiles. Here's an original layout drawing from the film, showing that deadly "electrothanasia ray" as it shoots down from the Mad Scientist's mountain-top lair. You can see this image as it appears in the short, in online viewings at about the 5:40 mark. The art, noted as "Rendering Guide" along the top edge, is in heavy graphite on 16 field animation paper. The image area measures 13.25" x 9.5". The art is actually drawn on a separate piece of paper, trimmed to image, and glued to the 16 field sheet. Art is matted with an opening of 15.5" x 12", and framed with Plexiglas for an overall size of 24" x 23.5" x 1.25". Frame is sold as-is. Art condition is Good, with handling wear and a faint glue stain along the lower edge of the image.
