Disneyland - Pinocchio's Daring Journey Operation & Maintenance Manual (Walt Disney, 1984). Themed after Disney's technically brilliant and heartwarming feature film Pinocchio, Pinocchio's Daring Journey was constructed in 1983, as part of Disneyland's New Fantasyland expansion. This charming dark ride is unique in that it was the first Disney parks attraction to ever use holographic special effects! This incredible manual contains seemingly-endless information about virtually every aspect of the attraction, from operation, to maintenance, to special effects, to design, and beyond. The manual dates to 1984, within a year of when the attraction opened. Some of the highlights include intricately-detailed diagrams of audio-animatronics, ride vehicles, tracks, and props, explanations of the construction of all special effects, descriptions of all ride scenes, exhaustive lists of maintenance procedures, and more. This includes a detailed description of the very first Disney parks hologram special effect (which is used on a mirror in a Pleasure Island scene). The diagrams and mechanical specifics given by this manual are simply incredible! The manual is in overall Good to Very Good condition, with some handling and wear from use.From the Rummell Collection.
