Description

Noel Sickles Scorchy Smith Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 5-11-35 (A.P., 1935). Sickles' polished art and brisk dialogue had helped to popularize Scorchy Smith beyond its 1930-33 stretch under the originator, John Terry. Sickles also served as a stylistic influence upon a favorite collaborator, Milton Caniff of Terry and the Pirates. Ink over graphite with Zipatone on Bristol board with a matted image area of 24" x 5.25". Deep overall age-toning, the mat is coming loose, and there is soft edge wear. In Very Good condition.
From the Bobby G. Murphy Collection.
