Description
George Pal's Puppetoons "Little Black Sambo" Storyboard Drawings Group of 12 (Paramount, 1944). The first cartoon version of the now politically incorrect fairy tale "Little Black Sambo" was made by Ub Iwerks in 1935. George Pal's Puppetoons had its own studio superstar in the politically incorrect character named Jasper. The studio went on to make fourteen Jasper Puppetoons theatrical stop-motion shorts. Little is known about their 1944 "Little Black Sambo" Puppetoons short. From the personal archives of Mr. Cecil Beard (1907 - 1986) comes a rare set of 12 hand-drawn and hand-colored early studio storyboards for this lost short. Graphite with Conte crayon, all on 8" x 5" paper with an image area of 4" x 3". Three have dialogue underneath the artwork. A very rare insight into the studio's story development. Minor handling and edge wear, otherwise in Very Good condition. From the Cecil Beard Estate.More information about Paramount Studios Artist.
