Description

Jean Giraud (Moebius) Moebius: A Retrospective Nude Woman Illustration Original Art (Cartoon Art Museum, c. 1964/1995). This painted nude comes from the hand of the visionary French artist celebrated for both his gritty Western realism in Blueberry and his trailblazing sci-fi and fantasy epics Arzach and The Incal. Created around his second trip to Mexico in 1964, it reflects the sensual experimentation and imagination that would soon reshape European comics. The piece was later exhibited at the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco in 1995 and featured in its accompanying catalog. Created in watercolor on Bristol board with an image area of 3.5" x 6.5". Toning, minor foxing, and smudging. In Very Good condition. Accompanied by a COA signed by Jean-Marc L'Officier, Giraud's longtime business partner at Starwatcher Graphics.
