Description
Doug Wildey Romance Stories of True Love Unpublished Table of Contents and Complete 5-Page Story "A Shoulder To Cry On" Original Art (Harvey, 1958). Commissioned for a never-published Issue #53 of the Harvey line's long-running Romance Stories of True Love, this splendid selection made it intact through the Comics Code's purity-seal process -- only to find the title cancelled as the publisher shifted its emphasis more directly onto kid-stuff funnybooks. Wildey is in typically fine form, here, with sympathetic, lifelike character designs and deep-focus cinematic compositions. Romance Stories of True Love had originated during the pre-Code period, under the more cumbersome title True Love Problems and Advice Illustrated. The story begins on an unnumbered table-of-contents page, with the remaining pages numbered as 1-5 ("the End"). Ink over graphite on Bristol board, with an image area of 12" x 18". Toned, with blue-line editorial markings and occasional unobtrusive lettering corrections. Very Good condition.From the Lars Teglbjaerg Collection.
