Description

Richard F. Outcault Buster Brown Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 5-7-15 (American-Journal Examiner, 1915). If you have never seen one of these originals in person, they are impressively large, and this one has the top tier that is missing from many surviving examples. "Some queer things happen at Palm Beach". Buster Brown goes shark hunting... what could go wrong? What does Buster learn from this? "Sharks are real hard things to catch." Created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 18.75" x 24.25". This has been affixed to an illustration board. The boards are toned, with corner damage and chipping. The illustration board is deteriorating and flaking. The Sunday is partially watercolored as a color guide to the printer. Signed in the last panel. In Fair condition.
