Description
Howard Nostrand Witches Tales #18 Complete 5-Page Story "Walpurgis!" Original Art (Harvey, 1953). Carl, tormented by the constant mistreatment from his master clockmaker boss, begins to hear the voice of a hideous hag whispering that Walpurgis Night and his destiny are near. On that fateful night, the master clockmaker curses Carl as he kills him, dooming him to a twisted fate: time will stand still until Carl himself dies. As the eternal rainy evening drags on, Carl's spirit "friends" ultimately turn on him to break the curse. Nostrand's expressive artistry and bold inks heighten the eerie atmosphere of this chilling pre-Code horror tale from Witches Tales. A direct competitor to EC Comics, Harvey Comics delivered its own brand of memorable macabre stories, cementing its place in 1950s horror history. Rendered in twice-up scale in ink over graphite on Bristol board with approximate image areas of 12.25" x 18.25". Toning, whiteout touch-ups/corrections, marginal production notes, smudging, minor staining, creasing, and handling wear. In Very Good condition.From the Roger Hill Collection.
