Description

Joe Certa and John Belfi (attributed) Chamber of Chills #21 "The Death Mask" Complete 5-Page Story Original Art (Harvey, 1954). A chilling tale of art and obsession, this pre-Code horror story follows painter Sid Baker, who becomes haunted by a mysterious figure that appears in one of his works -- complete with a noose around his neck. Tracking the man down, Sid discovers he's a sculptor, and their creations are horrifyingly linked. The story ends with a bone-chilling skeletal reveal in the final panels -- a classic twist from the EC-inspired era, before the censors crept in. Twice-up scale in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 12" x 18". Toning, smudging, marginal staples holes and pinholes, discolored text correction paste-ups, blue pencil editorial notes/marks, scraping effects, whiteout touch-ups, marginal soiling, and minor edge/corner wear. In Very Good condition.
From the Roger Hill Collection.
