Description

Alex Raymond Rip Kirby #14 Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 3-18-46 (King Features Syndicate, 1946). One of the first 20 Rip Kirby daily strips ever produced by the inimitable Alex Raymond, master of the visual art of suspense and action. Honey Dorian has joined a modeling agency to help her boyfriend Rip Kirby solve the mystery of another model who died on his doorstep! In 1930, Raymond was assisting Russ Westover on the Tillie the Toiler strip, and as a result, was introduced to King Features Syndicate, where he later became a staff artist and produced some of his best work, such as this early Rip Kirby episode. It was produced in ink and blue wash over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 19.25" x 5.75". The board is toned and in Very Good condition, with marginal soiling and smudging, and there are marginal notes on the left.
From the Alex Raymond Family Collection.
