John Byrne and Bob Layton The Champions #12 Double Splash Pages 2-3 Original Art (Marvel, 1977). Before the Danger Room, Byrne made his mark with these unlikely Champions! Hercules, Iceman, Darkstar, Ghost Rider, Angel, and Black Widow join Black Goliath to repel the towering threat of Stilt-Man in a stunning aerial assault. This dynamic team-up includes the first X-Men John Byrne ever drew for Marvel, Angel and Iceman, during his early days at the company before he rose to fame with his celebrated run on The Uncanny X-Men. Rendered in ink and Zipatone over graphite on separate Bristol boards with a combined image area of 20.5" x 15.75". Signed by Byrne in the image area of Page 2. The board is moderately toned, with whiteout text corrections, blue pencil editorial marks, stat page numbers, handling/edge wear, discolored production tape, and adhesive residue on the top and bottom margins.
