Description

Carl Barks Four Color #456 Lower Half of Uncle Scrooge "Back to the Klondike" Story Page 20 Original Art (Dell Publ., 1953). Little survives of the original art for Barks' classic "Back to the Klondike," an origin story explaining the source of Scrooge McDuck's impossible wealth. Portions of the story were removed upon the original printing, making room for promotional intrusions that only interrupted the flow of Barks' story. The present sequence finds Uncle Scrooge admitting the shadier nature of his long-ago gold strike -- Donald Duck gets the picture, all right -- and alluding to a dance-hall floozy who appears to share Scrooge's disgraceful secret. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of approximately 16" x 10". Excellent condition.
