Description

Roger Brand Nickel Library "Crime SuspenStories #30" Illustration Original Art (San Francisco Comic Book Co., 1977). In the 1970s, Gary Arlington published the set of Nickel Library one-page sheets under the name "Eric Fromm." Included in the series were "continuations" of classic EC titles (Arlington was a big EC fan), using contemporary artists to do covers for issues that never were, until Bill Gaines asked him to stop. Here's what we believe to be an unpublished page by the late Roger Brand, done as a cover for Crime SuspenStories #30. The art is in ink over graphite on Bristol board, with a photostat logo masthead. The art image area measures 12" x 10.75", with a total size (including masthead) of 12" x 17". Other than minor handling wear and a few glue stains in the masthead, the art is in Excellent condition. Signed and dated in the lower right. From the Gary Arlington Collection.
