Dennis the Menace Dennis Mitchell, Mr. George Wilson, Ruff, and Margaret Wade Original Production Cels with Master Backgrounds and Original Animation Drawings Group of 24 (DIC, 1986-1988). This is a packed lot that features the main players in the cartoon series Dennis the Menace which follows the six-year-old "good-natured" boy who inevitably causes mayhem with his parents and especially his neighbor, Mr. Wilson. He also has adventures with his friends and his loyal dog Ruff. The series originally aired nearly 40 years ago on 9/22/1986 and is based off the comic strip of the same name by Hank Ketcham (1920 - 2001). Henry King "Hank" Ketcham is an American cartoonist that received the Rueben Award for his Dennis the Menace comic strip for which he wrote and drew from 1951 to 1994. The troublemaker Dennis was voiced by Brennan Thicke whose only other notable work being the classic '80s cartoon MASK (1985). George Wilson was voiced by SNL favorite Phil Hartman (1948 - 1998) for Season 1 but was taken over by renowned voice actor Maurice LaMarche for Season 2 and onward. Margaret Wade is voiced by Jeannie Elias who has voiced characters in popular cartoon shows like The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, The Addams Family, and My Little Pony. The images in this lot are wide ranging from incredible close-ups, one for each major character listed, to hand-painted cels presented over gouache Master Backgrounds. Included are matching animation drawings for the production cel images. The three Master Backgrounds in this lot range from 14.25" x 10" to 14.25" x 10.75" while the measurements for the character images range from 2.75" x 2" to 10" x 8.25". The hand-drawn images are rendered in graphite and colored pencil. The overall condition is Very Good with some debris and surface wear, minor paint residue on drawings, and minor handling wear and edge wear.Auction Info
